President Trump has proposed a 25% tariff on all Canadian imports, a move that would be damaging not only for the Canadian and provincial economy but also for American workers and the U.S. economy. The B.C. government estimates that under this tariff scenario, B.C. could see a cumulative loss of $69 billion in economic activity between 2025 and 2028. These tariffs would disrupt integrated supply chains, increase costs for consumers, and harm businesses and workers on both sides of the border. The Canadian Chamber of Commerce's Business Data Lab (BDL) estimates that the tariffs would cost Americans approximately $1,300 per person annually.
The Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce wants to ensure that B.C. businesses are well-equipped to face these tariffs. On this webpage, you will find a survey to help inform GVC's advocacy efforts and links to numerous member resources to help your business navigate these challenges.
